The Profound Effects of Shiktehawk ~ Jessica F. - Shiktehawk 1992-2001 (pdf file, High Speed Recommended) This story was too good to edit for length . . . if you have a moment take the time to read this.

Camp is my home away from home, ALL SEASON! I've been coming to camp as a camper since I was 7 and now, am on staff for my second year . Camp has had a major impact on me, whether it be day to day little things or by helping campers young and old make a decision to follow Christ.  Every little thing God throws at us makes us thankful and smile. I love being at camp and helping others arond me get to know Christ like I did here and helping them to experience the over abundence of joy I get when I hear someone has made a decision to follow Jesus. Hope to see you all this summer and I can't wait to share laughs, smiles, and an impacting week with you sharing the love of God.

~ Kelsey D.

Camp has had a lasting impact on my life. I got saved there when I was about 11 years old, and since then, camp has helped me learn and grow in my walk with Jesus Christ. When I first became a Christian, I wasn't sure what I was really doing, but when I came to B.O.O.T. camp to learn about volunteering at Shiktehawk, God showed me how to live a life for Him. Last year, 2007, was my first year on staff as a cabin LIT (leader in training), and the entire summer was a learning experierence for me. There were days when I questioned my being there, and why God needed me at camp, but when I had the AMAZING experience of leading two girls to Christ for the very first time, it made me see why I was there. That experience in itself made my entire summer worth while. I have never felt anything that can even come close to what I felt after being a part of something so wonderful. God has continued to work in me, and challenges me every day. I am very much looking forward to being a part of the Staff of 2008 as a leader in training. I can't wait to see what God has in store!
~ Emma F.

I was 13 yrs old before coming to Shiktehawk for the first time. I remember the fear of all the unknowns because it was actually the first time that I had been away from home for more than a weekend. As I think back to that week in 1973, I realized that it was the week to change my life forever. I came from a Christian home but it was not until I attended Intermediate Boys at Camp Shiktehawk that I realized that I needed to make a decision for Christ for myself. How thankful I am for the frankness of the counsellors and camp chief, Dr. Seth Crowell Sr. Little did I know that that was just the beginning for me and that every summer after that, camp was an integral part. Summer without camp would not have been summer. As I look back to the 35 years since making my decision for Christ at Shiktehawk, I cannot thank God enough for the direction that He has had in my life. Little did I realize that He was molding me for experience overseas to be directing Year Round Bible Camps in the country of Italy, a country full of religion but a country living without Christ. Times and methods have changed since 1973 but Jesus is the same. Remembering our motto in 1973 at Shiktehawk, Jesus never Fails, we continue to serve him at Centro Maranatha in Italy where our motto is Jesus Is Coming Soon.

In Cristo,
Michael & Lorna Ralston

Shiktehawk, "Where He Conquered", a place where you experience God in
cabins full of memories, staff equipped in sincerity and lives impacted by Gods provision.

~ Jonathan B. - Camp Shiktehawk staff member 1997.

"I don't even remember what summer without camp is... The things I've learned, the people I've met; I owe it all to the the ministry of Shiktehawk Bible Camp. I've developed leadership skills that I'll be able use for the rest of my life. I met my best friend who has been there for me through thick and thin. I can't begin to explain all that camp is, but I can say with absolute certainty it's where God is."

~ Marlene C. - Staff 2003 - 2008

The Most Amazing Summer happened for me in 1994! That year I was on staff at Camp Shiktehawk as a Cabin Leader. Working with the rest of the staff under Kevin Matthews absolutely confirmed God's call to ministry on my life. I remember well the young people in my cabins and have kept in touch with so many! Shiktehawk means so many things to me. It is there the Lord conquered many of my fears and gave me a confidence in His ability to work through His people to see His Kingdom come! Go Camp Shiktehawk!!!

~ Tim J.

I am orginally from Arthurette, NB. I started going to camp since grade one - probably late 70's! I started working there on staff in 1986 until 1990. Camp was my life every summer. I have more wonderful memories than I can write about. I met my husband there. I was saved at camp as a child. What I think about is singing the songs to my parents for weeks after leaving camp. Crossing the bridge and getting so exicited I could hardly stand it. The skits, songs, chapel, lodge, Warners Hall - Camp has changed my life. The good friends I have today are friends I have from camp. I want to send my kids there for the same magical experience that I did.

~ Katrina F. S.

At Shiktehawk, I was able to develop some leadership skills that I am still using to this day. It was a great summer where lifelong friendships were made, as well I was able to see God move in such a powerful way!

~ Eric H. - Staff 2005

I have been involved in Camp Shiktehawk since the mid-70s when I was a camper there. My first summer was spent in the old Cabin 16, the end of the motel, with Tammy Purinton and Janet Rogers as my counselors. The next year I graduated to Cabin 11 1/2, which became holy ground for me, as I met God there year after year. The influence of great counselors, Camp Chiefs (!), vespers speakers, and Alpha/Sparkle leaders like John Irvine, Sandra Culberson and others had a tremendous impact on my teen years and growing faith. I volunteered at camp, became summer staff during university years and beyond, and have remained a strong advocate for camp's ministry throughout. The growth of the facilities in the last few decades has been impressive but it doesn't even begin to compare with what God has done in the lives of campers, volunteers, staff, leaders, and families! Shiktehawk remains a special place for me personally not just for the memories, but because I continue to see God at work there year after year.

~ Andrea B.

Shiktehawk has played a significant role in my journey with God. It was there that I first asked Christ into my life, there that I met the people I am now closest to, who provide accountability in my life, and there that God gave me a passion for youth. God has used Shiktehawk to shape who I am. There's always room for more camp!!

~ Shannon - Staff 03-08

I have never missed a year since 1990! I came first as a camper, then began volunteering when I was 12. When I was old enough, I decided to apply. Some of my greatest growing experiences have happened at camp. The people there are ready to pick you up or help you along in your walk of faith, even off season. Camp is a place where you can completely step out of your comfort zone physically, emotionally and spiritually. I LOVE working with everyone who travels across that bridge, be it playing crazy wild games or having quiet chats by the crick. I have cried, laughed, and danced at Camp, and if there's one thing I've learned, God will meet anyone and everyone, from the youngest camper, to a struggling staff member or a caring council member where they are at. I cannot think of a better place to work, sharing the love of Christ with everyone I come in contact with 24/7.

~ Lieneke d.

I can't explain the effect that Shiktehawk has had on my life in a very short period of time. Being a typical "Sunday Christian" most of my life, I had attended camp a few times as a child and enjoyed it, but when I began going to youth retreats at camp and working as a volunteer, God used this place to touch my heart. It was through camp and the loving, accepting atmosphere that God pushed me to give all I could for His service. I received nothing but encouragement from everyone at Shiktehawk in this new growth in my faith. I have never felt more loved or more at home than when I was at SBC. It's a place where God's presence truly changes lives.

~ Meghan M.

I grew up in a Christian home and was saved when I was six but every time I sinned I thought I had to become a Christian again. Finally, one summer at SBC in cabin 16, I learned that I was truly saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. I have gone to camp every year for as long as I can remember and this past summer ('07) at 'Unplugged' camp changed my life forever as a Christian and it is something I will never forget. Camp is an amazing place and it changes many lives just like it did mine.

~ Kathryn S.
